Work Pattern: Full time Position: Project Manager – Anti Human trafficking Initiatives Position Overview: Save The Children India (STCI) is an independent Indian NGO seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven Project Manager to lead Save The Children India’s Innovative Project, “Enabling Responsive Justice for Victims of Trafficking in Five Districts of Maharashtra”, namely – Nashik, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Solapur and Kolhapur. For more information about the organization, visit – www.savethechildrenindia.org The position is required to operate from STCI Head Office situated at Bandra Kurla Complex Mumbai with travel to project districts for monitoring and mentoring district teams. The project is about strengthening prosecution in sex-trafficking cases and assisting the victims of sex-trafficking to seek justice for themselves. The project seeks to leverage the state/government prosecution agencies and sensitize and empower them through training, capacity building and extending handholding assistance in these cases.
This is a mid-level position and involves a strong component of liaison with government as well as team management. Teams will be spread across five districts. The Project Manager will be responsible for overall project deliverables with periodic travel to the project districts. The Project Manager will be guided by an experienced management team at the Head Office level that will also make timely field visits for monitoring.
The candidate must be result-driven, have good communication skills and have a Masters degree in a relevant field. A degree in Law would add additional value. S/he is required to possess minimum 7 years of experience in the development sector managing large programs and have the demonstrated experience of coordinating with government officers and funding agencies. Experience of working in the anti-trafficking sector would be an added advantage.
Job Description
 Guide the district teams to meet the project objectives and deliverables.  Continuous review of implementation of program activities to ensure that they are aligned to the objectives, outputs, outcomes and impact.  Work in conjunction with the M&E Officer to align the data in reference to outputs and outcomes as mapped in the Project Log frame and the Theory of Change.  Coordinate with state judicial bodies like the Legal Service Authorities and the Directorate of Prosecution for strengthened legal support to victims of sex-trafficking.
 Liaise with government departments for necessary permissions and approvals for project interventions  Regularly apprise the funding agency through project reports and review meetings on the progress of the project as outlined in the project agreement.
 Ensure quality of intervention , enabling the desired outcomes.
 In conjunction with the Head, Anti Trafficking Initiatives, facilitate and coordinate ongoing planning processes, project work plans, budgets and action plans.
 Work closely with the District Associates and other stakeholders to ensure that project teams receive adequate support.
 Review project progress with the Head, Anti Trafficking, at monthly project control meetings.
 Regular coordination with finance teams to track budget and expenditure and keep finance teams informed of cost of program activities
 Fulfill the roles as defined in the grants management system.
 Proactively bring any issues to the attention of the Head Anti Trafficking and the Programme Director.
 Ensure completion of deliverables on time to agreed standards.
 Ensure quality assurance procedures are being followed.
Candidate Specification
 Ability to coordinate and work with government systems. An understanding of judicial systems/structure would be an added advantage.
 Experience in managing projects and ensuring outcomes
 Experience in managing medium to large budgets and teams
 Excellent communication and interpersonal and teamwork skills
 Able to work to tight deadlines and to remain calm under pressure
 Well-developed time management and organizational skills
 Keen eye for detail
 Strategic approach and focus to work
 Ability to identify improvements in processes and follow through on implementation
 Excellent written and oral English language skills, knowledge of Marathi will be an added advantage
 Demonstrated ability to manage staff and lead teams, including training and performance management.
 Proven track record of excellent financial and process management skills.
 Working to deadlines, multi-tasking and being flexible to adapt to changing priorities.
 Being proactive and using own initiative to make decisions and take responsibility for actions independently.
Desirable experience
 Postgraduate degree in relevant field (e.g. management, Social Sciences and Law) with minimum of 7 years of experience working in a project manager role.
 Previous experience of international development management.
 Experience of working with major development partners such as DFID, USAID, EU, World Bank, UN Agencies and global bodies.
 Experience liaising with state and national governments.
Remuneration would be commensurate with experience.
