About the ant (the action northeast trust)
We are an NGO based in Chirang District of Assam and work directly for village development. At another level, through the initiative IDeA (Institute of Development Action) we work with other development organizations in the Northeast to help build a vibrant voluntary sector in the region. IDeA provides incubation support to early-stage organizations, engages with networks to strengthen development sector voice, and conducts Northeast centric research and advocacy.
POSITION DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
Location Guwahati, Assam
Position tenure Initially the contract will be for 2 years; the extension will be based on performance review

Scope of Work
The Development Associate (DA) will be primarily working with the IDeA team for the incubation of early-stage NGOs in the Northeast region. She/he will have the responsibility of working closely and supporting NGOs based in different North-Eastern states. The DA will provide handholding support to the partner NGOs, connect them to resources, organize training, and contribute towards their organizational growth.
Specific Roles & Responsibilities
- The DA will maintain an updated database of organizations in the North East region who would need incubation and capacity-building support.
- Along with the IDeA team, provide incubation support to partner organizations by-helping in the development of strategy and plans, connecting partners with necessary resources, constant tracking, and nudging during implementation, conducting field visits, and monitoring.
- Take part in capacity building of partner organizations by- identifying training needs, planning the training, identifying resource persons, and organizing training. The DA would also need to participate in training programs conducted by IDeA by designing and facilitating sessions.
- Support the partner organizations in conducting surveys/studies and developing manuals/modules for their interventions. The DA would also assist the organizations in developing their organizational policies such as- HR, finance, prevention of sexual harassment, etc.
- Actively take part in documentation and reporting of training, field visits, and donor reports.
- Bring in new ideas and resources to improve the incubation support provided to partner organizations. The DA will also support the development of project proposals and scouting for donors.
- Any other work assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- o Qualification- MSW or any other related Masters's degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the development sector.
- o Hands-on experience of working on education or child rights will be valued.
- o Ability to think critically and come up with ideas/ suggestions.
- o Good communication skills (written and verbal). Fluency in Assamese and English will be valued.
- o Ability to mentor partner organizations and liaise with different stakeholders.
- o Ability to work independently with little supervision
- o Proficient in the use of the computer (Microsoft office)
- o Willingness to travel frequently.
